Which Campus?
AUC has an old campus in Tahrir and a new campus in New Cairo. The conference will be held at the New Cairo Campus. Map is in About Us page.
Transportation
We recommend that you only use either Uber or Careem, and avoid using any White Taxi or other services as they might charge you unfairly. It is also advisable to set the trips to be paid through your credit card.
From the Airport to AUC
The distance from the Airport to AUC campus is approximately 30 km and should take about 30 minutes. Your Hotel or Airbnb should be close to AUC Campus which would make any variation in distance or time minimal. The trip costs between 120-150 Egyptian Pounds ≈ 6-9 USD.
Visa on Arrival
Visa on Arrival costs 25 USD. Please note that you cannot use credit card or any other currency to pay the amount (including Egyptian Pound).
For more information, please visit here or here.
Note: According to US State Department, "The Government of Egypt has created a website for the issuance of “e-visas”".
Money Exchange
We recommend changing money either before coming to Egypt or through one of the banks at the airport or at CIB on AUC campus. Please double check the exchange rate before any transactions if you decide to change money elsewhere.
Note: Generally, you will be able to change USD or Euro to EGP with your passport, but you will not be able to change EGP to either. So please change only the needed amount.
Note: Most places on AUC Campus and around will accept credit card.
Internet
- Using your passport, you can buy a cellular line from a Vodafone store right across the street from AUC Campus (Inside Point 90)
- While on Campus, you can use AUC-Guest wifi network. More information on how to use it will be available soon.
